Ethiopia: Organic Dry Process Tarekech Werasa

$14.00

Tarekech Werasa started her small coffee "estate" back in 1990 just outside the town of Gedeb, within the greater Yirgacheffe region.  Due to the regulations on who can export coffee directly, Tarakech has had to sell her coffee to the government run Ethiopia Commodities Exchange ("ECX"), where it was mixed into regional blends mostly based on physical quality. These regulations were changed 3 years ago, affording farmers like Tarekech the opportunity to apply for an export license and work directly with international buyers. With this comes the opportunity to have their coffee represented on it's own instead of being lost to full container blends, and ultimately, the hope of a better price based on the quality of their coffee. Her farm sits at 2150 meters above sea level, and was handpicked to Grade 2 standard for dry process coffee. Notes of apricot, raspberry, blueberry taffy, and chocolate-covered strawberry with a rustic herbal hint of coriander and roasted cacao nib.
